How to stop frogs being sucked into the pump in the pond?

Wе һаνе a draper pond pump аחԁ around tһіѕ time οf year frogs аrе constantly being sucked іחtο іt аחԁ obviously dying. Wе′ve tried wrapping іt іח firm mesh bυt חο luck. Aחу οtһеr solutions?
Chicken wire іѕ wһаt wе′ve already tried.

  1. try putting chicken wire where the water gets sucked up. the frogs cant get through small chicken wire.

  2. Make a cover to put over the pump. Put mesh on it. The reality is nothing may help.

  3. Here is what we did, we bought an old colander at a garage sale and put it over the spout that sucks up the water, then every few days clean it out.

  4. Have you tried aluminum screening? You can usually buy it in the length you need from hardware stores.

  5. we put our pump in a very large bucket and put hardware cloth over it with holes cut for the tubing and power cord…. saved on cleaning the intake of the pump, too!….make sure the pump INTAKE is well clear of the side or bottom of the bucket…..might need to hold it up off the bottom with a stone or brick….we used a plastic coated hardware cloth and forced it into the bucket, too….punched a couple holes in the rim of the bucket and used copper wire to tie the cloth in a couple spots for security….
